The book was about a girl who had vowed chastity and a man with animal lust for her. The girl should finish a very dangerous mission and the man decides to play bodyguard for her. Eventually things get out of hand...I liked it when MacRieve got mad and I think that Cole could have keep there a little longer. She used that idea in the fifth book of the series (Dark Needs at Night's Edge) and it was one of my favorites. Cole also managed to create a really creepy character, namely Cruach, the God of human sacrifices.
